UC Davis American studies professor Jay Mechling will receive the 1998 Mary C. Turpie Prize from the American Studies Association at its annual meeting in November. The award is given to the candidate who has demonstrated outstanding abilities and achievement in teaching, advising and program development at the local or regional level. It includes lifetime membership for the recipient.
