Graduating seniors have promising job opportunities in a number of different fields, according to Joe Stasulat, a program manager in the Internship and Career Center at UC Davis. "Students that have skills and abilities that cross over into a variety of academic fields are having more success in finding jobs," says Stasulat. High-tech companies are looking for new hires that have a basic knowledge in computers, marketing, engineering and finance, Stasulat notes. Job growth continues in the environmental fields, including such areas as local air resources and water quality control. There continues to be a fundamental shift in how students find jobs, according to Stasulat. "Networking is more important than resumes and using the alumni for job searches is very helpful," says Stasulat.
