John Capitanio

The American Society of Primatologists has elected John Capitanio, UC Davis assistant professor of psychology, to become president of the educational and scientific organization. During the six-year term, he will serve as president-elect, president and past-president on the board of directors. Created to promote and encourage the discovery and exchange of information regarding primates, the society supports further advancements in the areas of biology, development and behavior of primates. Capitanio's own primate research is focused on the effects of social relationships on monkey behavior and biology, with an emphasis on disease processes, especially AIDS.
