Bobby Hurley, the Sacramento Kings starting guard who fought his way back from severe injuries suffered in an automobile accident last winter following an NBA game, will play in his first pre-season game before a home crowd on Saturday, Oct. 22. The exhibition game against the Los Angeles Clippers will be at Rec Hall on the UC Davis campus. A portion of the proceeds from the game will benefit the UC Davis Students First fund-raising campaign. The campaign is intended to raise more than $15 million over two years to fund scholarships, fellowships, student-related academic programs and other financial aid for undergraduate and graduate students. Hurley is not a stranger to UC Davis. Following the car accident, he was treated at the UC Davis Medical Center, which provided emergency care that saved the basketball star's life. The 7:30 p.m. game will be played in a facility that seats 8,400 for basketball.
