Artist: Alex Jackson
Alex Jackson is an alumnus of the UC Davis art department who now exhibits his work throughout the United States. His postcard-sized acrylic and mixed-media paintings look at the natural landscape as a receptacle for cultural taste, and an object of aesthetic possession.
Landscape becomes meaningful through our occupancy of it, he explains, and the picture postcard encapsulates this idea of nature as destination. Implied space is created through layers of clear and translucent paint, and a variety of textures using elements such as sand, glass and glitter.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
