-- Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef received an honorary doctoral degree from his alma mater, Purdue University, during its May commencement ceremony. The chancellor, who earned his doctorate in plant biochemistry and physiology from Purdue, was given an honorary doctorate in agriculture to honor the work accomplished through his career: his efforts toward revitalizing the spirit of the Morrill Act ("the fully engaged university"), service at the national level (to the Kellogg Commission, the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, the Science Foundation and others), and his personal accomplishments in academia.
