UC Davis law professor Gary Goodpaster has taken a year's leave of absence to accept the position of chief of party and law development officer for the Economic Law and Improved Procurement Systems Project in Indonesia. The project is a major U.S. Agency for International Development-funded law and development program aimed at drafting and enacting economic laws for Indonesia, ranging from bankruptcy to investment laws. Goodpaster will also oversee the training of Indonesian legal professionals in economic law, improving legal education, and creating and developing legal information systems for the country.
