This year's recipient of the Ruth E. Anderson Award at UC Davis is Adaljiza Sosa Riddell, a senior lecturer in Chicana/o Studies and coordinator of the Chicana/Latina Research Center. Each year the award is given to a member of the faculty, staff or student body by the Women's Resources and Research Center and the Women's Studies Program. Riddell, who researches the status, needs and activities of Chicanas, Latinas and Mexicanas in the United States, founded Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social/Women Active in Letters and Social Change, a network of Southwest female scholars. She established the UC Davis Chicana/Latina Research Center in 1990 to support scholarship, creative work and teaching.
