The second phase of preparing an update of the Long Range Development Plan for the University of California, Davis, will be the focus of a public workshop Monday, Nov. 15.
The meeting, held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Recreation Pool Lodge, will focus on discussing draft campus land-use plans with accompanying maps. These documents will also be on display Nov. 16 to mid-December at Shields Library and in front of the Planning and Budget Office, third floor of Mrak Hall, to allow additional opportunity for public review and comment.
When completed and authorized by the UC Regents, the campus LRDP will serve as a blueprint to guide campus development through the year 2005. The revised plan will be an updated version of a 1989 plan, as mandated by a state appeals court.
During the Nov. 15 workshop, campus planners will discuss LRDP land-use definitions and maps that illustrate proposed uses of campus land, including central campus, west campus, Russell Ranch and south campus. The eight key areas of focus are academic and administrative building plans; the teaching and research fields program; the student housing program; the physical education, athletic and recreation program; the support services program; the enterprise program; the open space program; and the transportation and parking program.
Campus planners expect to hold another public workshop in December to discuss a second draft of the revised LRDP. Following a formal public comment period on the revised draft plan and its environmental impact report, the campus is expected to submit both to the UC Board of Regents in July 1994.
