The birthday of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. will be commemorated Jan. 17-19 at the UC Davis law school with student-organized panel discussions, films and a diversity forum. At noon Tuesday, Jan. 17, the film "Amazing Grace," a documentary about King's life, will be shown. At 5:30 p.m., a panel of civil rights lawyers will discuss civil rights today. Panelists will include Marion Woods, executive director of the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency; Felix de la Torre, of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund and Crystal Weston, of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco. At noon Wednesday, Jan. 18, a panel of UC Davis law faculty members will discuss the school's Immigration Law, Civil Rights and International Law clinics. At 5 p.m., "The Color of Fear" film will be shown. A diversity forum for law school students, faculty and administrators will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 19.
