* Oct. 3, Tuesday -- UC Davis Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef will formalize an agreement with Peace Corps Deputy Director Charles R. Baquet III to create four new master's degrees in international programs. Starting next fall, Peace Corps volunteers can choose to study horticulture and agronomy, soil science, plant biology or preventive veterinary medicine at UC Davis, get two years of field experience, and return to finish their degree during a final quarter of school. Presentations on the graduate degrees begin at 3 p.m. with the signing ceremony at 3:30 p.m. in 203 Mrak. The media is also invited to a reception beginning at 4:30 p.m. at 10 College Park, Davis, where the Peace Corps visitors will meet with corps alumni among UC Davis faculty, staff and students.
