Media Availability on Efforts to Reduce High-Risk Drinking

Carol Wall, vice chancellor for student affairs at UC Davis, will be available at 12:15 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 14) on campus to discuss the university's efforts to reduce high-risk drinking among students as well as young adults and adolescents in the community. The availability will take place outside at the rear of Mrak Hall. Wall's availability will follow an 11 a.m. news conference organized by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to announce it intends to seek the revocation of The Paragon's liquor license. It was there that UC Davis senior David Thornton celebrated his 21st birthday before dying of alcohol-related causes April 4, 2000. That news conference will be held at the city of Davis Police Department, F and Third streets in Davis. Directions: From I-80 westbound, take the UC Davis exit. Turn right onto Old Davis Road. Follow it past the information kiosk and a bend to the left. At the stop sign, turn right. At the stoplight, turn left onto Mrak Hall Drive. Mrak Hall sits at the top of the circular drive. From the Davis police station, take F Street south toward the interstate. At First Street, turn right. At A Street, turn left. At the stop sign, turn right onto Old Davis Road. At the stoplight, turn right onto Mrak Hall Drive. Mrak Hall sits at the top of the circular drive. Media may always park free on the UC Davis campus in any nonreserved parking space. If your vehicle is not marked, place a media business card on the dashboard.
