* March 18, Wednesday -- Stephen Parker, chief economist for the Asia Foundation in San Francisco, will present "A Report on the Pacific Economic Outlook: Managing the Economic Downturn in Asia." Parker is co-editor (with Wing Thye Woo, professor of economics at UC Davis, and Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Harvard Institute for International Development) of the book "Economies in Transition: Comparing Asia and Europe." His talk, to begin at noon in Room 360 of the Shields Library on campus, is being sponsored by the Institute of Governmental Affairs at UC Davis.
