May 27, Wednesday -- UC Davis veterinary student David Dawson will discuss his recent experiences in Sarajevo, where he met with administrators and students at Bosnia's only school of veterinary medicine. The school had requested assistance from UC Davis in rebuilding the institution following civil war in Bosnia. Dawson, who will return to Bosnia for further scientific exchange this summer, will discuss Bosnia's animal care services, standards for handling food animals and establishment of a humane animal welfare system in that country.
