May 27, Wednesday -- UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert Berdahl will speak at 4:10 p.m. in the University Club dining room on "Finding the Proper Balance: What It Means to Be a Public University." Berdahl is the last speaker this academic year in Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef's Forum on the Future. Berdahl came to UC Berkeley in July 1997 from the University of Texas at Austin, where he had been president since January 1993. While there, he emphasized improving the quality of undergraduate education and expanding community outreach, especially to kindergarten through 12th-grade public schools. This year's Forum on the Future has featured three other national leaders in higher education.
