In conjunction with the obesity research conference, an "Obesity Update" conference for medical professionals will be held Oct. 18-20 at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento, dealing with the most recent research developments related to the prevention, assessment and treatment of obesity. Designed for practicing physicians, nurses and dietitians, the meeting will focus on topics such as dieting behavior in women and men, prevention of dieting relapses, obesity as an epidemic and regulation of the weight-loss industry. The meeting is coordinated by the Office of Continuing Medical Education at the UC Davis Medical Center and School of Medicine, and is chaired by Judith S. Stern, professor of nutrition at UC Davis. The speakers will include researchers from UC Davis and throughout the nation who are participating in the separate obesity research conference.
