-- Mikal Saltveit, professor of vegetable crops, was recently elected a fellow of the American Society for Horticultural Science. Fellows are elected on the basis of their contributions to their area of specialization and to the society. Saltveit, an internationally recognized expert on the postharvest physiology and technology of horticultural crops, is currently director of the Mann Laboratory and of the UC Postharvest Program. He studies the physiological effects of the abiotic stresses of chilling and wounding on horticultural crops.
