Mini-concerts court classroom audiences

Two string quartets and a young concert violinist visiting UC Davis will bring music and insights into their art to regional schools in February. On Monday, Feb. 3, the Angeles String Quartet will conduct a mini-concert followed by a question-and-answer session at George Buljan Intermediate School in Roseville. The group will also conduct a lecture-demonstration at the Folsom Community Center for music students from Folsom High School. The Alexander String Quartet will present a school matinee in Freeborn Hall on campus at 11 a.m., as part of the UC Davis Presents Community Outreach Program. In addition, it will participate in a mini-concert for orchestra students at Davis High School. Violinist Yayoi Toda will give a lecture demonstration the week of Feb. 24 at the Folsom Community Center with students from Folsom High School. On Tuesday, Feb 25, a mini-concert will take place for the orchestra students at Woodland High School, with another concert later that evening at UC Davis' Regan Hall. On Thursday, she will perform a mini-concert at Davis High School, a noon concert through the UC Davis music department and a master class with the Sacramento Youth Symphony.
