-- Neal Van Alfen, dean of the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, has been appointed by Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef as a UC Davis representative to the board of trustees of the American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts. Robert Fridley, professor emeritus and special assistant to the dean, also serves on board. The new center, which broke ground in June 1999 on 12 acres alongside the Napa River in Napa, is expected to open in fall 2001.
