Wes Arvin, who joined the campus fire department as a student firefighter in 1983, was recently named assistant fire marshal for the Davis campus. Joining him on campus is Capt. Sharon Williams, who comes to Davis from Sacramento where she was a deputy fire marshal for the state of California. Capt. Fred Fickert will be handling the fire marshal responsibilities at UC Davis Medical Center. He comes from San Leandro where he was a deputy state fire marshal. The fire marshals will be responsible for applying the fire and life-safety codes in all existing and new buildings at UC Davis.
