New Sustainable Ag Database Offers Quick Online Answers

A new searchable database is now available to help farmers, ranchers and community groups craft low-input solutions to many of the operational questions they're wrestling with today. The database, developed by the UC Davis-based UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program, can be found at . It offers information on topics such as alternative pest control methods, soil-management techniques and community strategies for strengthening connections with local agriculture. "This information contained in the database has been generated from more than 250 research projects we've funded since 1987," says Sean Swezey, director of the UC sustainable agriculture program. "We're thrilled to give people this instantly accessible tool to find solutions to the problems they're dealing with." The database can be searched by topic, commodity, research location, relevance to organic farming and principal investigator. It also has full-text search capabilities. Project summaries offer information that will be useful to producers, community groups, researchers, educators and policy-makers throughout the state.
