Outstanding work with campus scholars and the news media has recently earned the UC Davis News Service two national awards. The first award -- a gold medal from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for excellence in research, medicine and science news writing -- is one of the top national awards for university communications offices. The News Service writers honored are Pat Bailey, Lisa Klionsky and Carol Morton. Their news releases and talks with reporters resulted in UC Davis research coverage by such top news media as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, National Public Radio, NBC, CNN and many others. The second award -- a silver medal from CASE -- honored the new electronic UC Davis Experts Directory, launched earlier this year on the Web. Searchable in various ways, the database highlights more than 800 campus scholars.
