-- The Economic History Association unanimously selected Peter Lindert, economics professor and director of the Agricultural History Center at UC Davis, as its president-elect. He will begin a one-year term as the association's president in September 2001. The association, which publishes The Journal of Economic History, was created 60 years ago to promote economic-history teaching and research. It has about 1,100 members throughout North America.
