Several UC Davis supporters were honored recently by the local chapter of the National Society of Fund-Raising Executives. Among the honorees were Walter D. Buehler and his wife, the late Carol Buehler, of Sacramento. The Buehlers gave $25,000 for an endowed scholarship for undergraduate civil engineering students and $1 million to the construction of the Walter A. Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. Chancellor Emeritus Jim Meyer was also honored as a Distinguished Honoree of UC Davis for his outstanding volunteer work, especially his activity in raising money for the Students First campaign in the animal sciences department. Karen Karnopp of Davis, the immediate past president and fund-raising committee chair for the Friends of UC Davis Presents, was given a special award of recognition for her outstanding leadership efforts.
