* Oct. 3, Saturday -- An excellent selection of ornamental grasses will be among the more than 1,000 varieties of garden plants available for purchase at the 24th annual Plant Faire of the UC Davis Arboretum. Expert gardeners will be on hand to answer questions about any of the plants for sale. All of the plants were grown by volunteers of the Friends of the Davis Arboretum, and proceeds support the arboretum's gardens and environmental education programs. Those planning to take home plants should bring a wagon or cart to transport them. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Arboretum Headquarters, on LaRue Road west of California Avenue.
