Political Science Students to Interview National Security Adviser

Long-distance learning technology is providing students in an undergraduate political science class at UC Davis the unusual opportunity to interview Anthony Lake, national security adviser to President Clinton, on Tuesday, May 30. A live television satellite link allows students on campus to question prominent figures in the nation's capital. Political science department chair Larry Berman and UC Davis Washington Center director Bruce Jentleson are coordinating the program. The subject that will be discussed in the one-hour interview will be the role of the United States in international peacekeeping. This will be the third television link this year between UC Davis and Washington, D.C., in a UC Davis series examining the Republican Party's "Contract with America." Jentleson will be the in-studio host with Lake at the UC Davis Washington Center. "Our satellite video interviews with members of the 'Washington elite' is a class favorite," says Berman. "The students love asking questions and interacting with the guests in the nation's capital."
