Professor and Students Win Presidential Awards for Undergraduate Research

The founder and supervisor of the UC Davis history department's research seminar for undergraduate honors students, Professor Roland Marchand, has been granted the UC 1996 Presidential Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research. One of the two 1996 student recipients of the annual award is Rebecca Gutierrez, a history major who wrote an interdisciplinary work. The second winner, mathematics major Leslie Levine, wrote a thesis that used her knowledge of biology and mathematics.
