Bruce Hammock, professor in the departments of entomology and environmental toxicology at UC Davis, was selected as the latest recipient of the Kenneth A. Spencer Award. The award is given by the American Chemical Society to recognize "chemists who toil for better living through better agriculture and better foods." Hammock's research was recognized in three areas: the metabolism of drugs and pesticides in humans, the development of immunochemical methods for the analysis of pesticide residues and other environmental contaminants, and the fundamental developmental biology of insects.
