Progress Reported in Sustainable Ag

A new progress report detailing research and accomplishments of the UC Davis-based statewide UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program is now available. "We've funded more than 127 grants for more than $2.5 million dollars since the program was established in 1987," says Jill Shore Auburn, acting director of UC SAREP. "In the last three years alone, we have launched 49 new projects and produced 10 new publications." According to Auburn, SAREP's economic and public-policy program ties into growing interest in incorporating social goals with ecological issues. "We have projects that focus on farmworkers, consumers, marketing and sustainable community development, in addition to the many production-related projects that we have maintained over the years." The 52-page annual report is available from the UC SAREP office at (916) 752-7556.
