UC Davis' renowned zoo vet, Murray Fowler, has received three prestigious awards. First, the professor emeritus of medicine and epidemiology was invited to London to present a lecture and receive the first Parke-Davis Award from the British Veterinary Zoological Society for outstanding contributions in the field of zoological medicine. Second, the California affiliate of the International Llama Association inaugurated a new award, the Murray E. Fowler Achievement Award, and named Fowler its first recipient. Finally, Fowler is the recipient of the 1995 Dr. Emil P. Dolensek Award, the highest award given by the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, for his exceptional contributions to the conservation, care and understanding of zoo and free-ranging wildlife.
