Sierra Nevada Ecosystem Report Presented to the Public

The final Sierra Nevada Ecosystem Project report will be presented to the public at a meeting June 28-29 in the main building of the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville. The three-year, $6.5-million congressionally funded project based at UC Davis includes assessments of the ecological, economic, and social health of the Sierra Nevada. Organized by the UC Davis-based Centers for Water and Wildland Resources, the conference will provide a forum for project scientists to present research findings and discuss policy options with members of the Sierra Nevada community. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, the first day focuses on the project background, critical findings and policy scenarios. Saturday's agenda features a keynote address from former UC Davis Chancellor Ted Hullar, talks by Sierra Nevada community speakers and break-out groups discussing what happens next. A news briefing for media has been tentatively scheduled for June 10.
