Springing to life after a winter's sleep, the University Arboretum at UC Davis is beginning one of its most beautiful periods as a living museum. More than 2,000 varieties of trees and plants are displaying brightly colored buds and blossoms. The outdoor classroom and laboratory is home to one of the best collections of drought-resistant plants in the world as well as to a dozen rare or endangered species. More than 120 acres of land at the arboretum are open to the public for walks, picnics and pictures.
