-- UC Davis' Stephen Russell, a 4-H youth development specialist in human and community development, was presented the Wayne F. Placek Award by the American Psychological Foundation. The award seeks to encourage research that increases understanding of homosexuality and alleviates the stress gay men and lesbians experience. It comes with $16,000, which will support the project "Adolescent Sexual Orientation, Risk and Resilience." Russell focuses on the long-term effectiveness of sexuality education, risk factors for early parenthood and pregnancy, and adolescent sexual orientation and the health and well being of sexual minority youth.
