-- The Friends of Agricultural Extension has given its second annual Award for Outstanding Achievement to Steve Koike, a UC Davis Cooperative Extension plant pathology farm advisor in Monterey County. The $5,000 award, given to farm advisors or specialists in nine Central California counties, reflects Koike's significant contributions to production agriculture and to consumers. Koike has created a diagnostic laboratory for Monterey County farmers that offers analyses of potentially diseased plants within one or two days.
