To encourage development of more leadership skills in UC Davis students, the campus has launched a set of workshops that will link business, educational, political and other regional community leaders with both graduate and undergraduate students this academic year. "Adding this leadership component to their educational experience will strengthen the students' abilities to be competitive in seeking initial and future career opportunities," says Frank Rincon, vice chancellor of student affairs and developer of the campus Student Leadership Development program. "The program has been established on this campus because the need for student leadership development is now more critical than ever." The workshop series consists of more than 20 courses that focus on different aspects of leadership. One of the first courses begins Thursday, Oct. 28, with Yolo County Supervisor Betsy Marchand, who will discuss leadership challenges in local government.
