Students Drop off End-of-the-Year Items for Charity

Tons of items -- like refrigerators, appliances, televisions, older computers, tables, chairs, lamps, bed frames and clothing -- are expected to be donated by UC Davis students this Saturday, June 3, at the first campus "recovery drive." Instead of leaving usable items behind for waste-removal trucks at the end of the school year, students are encouraged to drop off their unwanted household goods at the Hutchison field, north of Recreation Hall. In the past, the leftover student belongings were transferred to the campus landfill. In an effort to reduce the waste, students along with a number of UC Davis student service organizations are volunteering their time and energy to this recovery drive, says Pius Ahn, student recovery-drive coordinator.
