Students to Protest Bombing of Chinese Embassy

WHAT: About 100 members of a Chinese students group at UC Davis will hold a rally and march to protest the NATO bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade. WHEN: Wednesday, May 12. The rally will begin at noon and the march, about 12:50 p.m. WHERE: Students will rally at the Silo courtyard. Then they plan to march east on Hutchison Drive and north in front of Shields Library, circle the Quad, and return to the Silo area. BACKGROUND: The Chinese Students and Scholars Fellowship is organizing the rally and march. It includes about 200 students and scholars from China. DIRECTIONS: To reach the Silo, take Highway 113 north from Interstate 80 and exit onto Hutchison Drive east. Stay on Hutchison Drive and cross La Rue Road. The Silo will be to your right just before an access gate to the central campus. The courtyard is south of the Silo. Parking may be available in Lot 43, adjacent to the Silo. For central campus access, exit Interstate 80 at Richards Boulevard, proceed north through the tunnel, cross First Street and continue on E Street. At Fifth Street, turn left. At Howard Way, turn left and proceed to the gate to gain access to the central campus. Please note that the gate for central campus access will not allow vehicles to pass between 11:45 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. due to heavy pedestrian traffic over the lunch hour. Members of the media with unmarked vehicles should place a media business card on the dashboard.
