Summer classes include adventure

Thousands of students just graduated from UC Davis, and now thousands more are coming to campus for summer school. More than 220 academic instructors will begin their classes on Monday, June 23, with an anticipated overall enrollment of 6,500 students covering the two sessions offered in the summer. Some of the more popular courses include experiencing active volcanoes while living on the summit of Kilauea on the eastern coast of Hawaii, rafting whitewater rapids and conducting on-river laboratory exercises, and participating in natural history hikes. Overall, more than 200 courses are offered, drawing a mix of students. Students from community colleges or other four-year programs who attend UC Davis have options of enrolling in traditional on-campus classes or they can take international courses in Europe, Asia, South America and the Caribbean. Most are UC Davis seniors who are enrolling in the more traditional courses like chemistry, biology, English and engineering.
