Summer Students Show off Projects for Parents

* Saturday, Aug. 3 -- High school students taking part in the COSMOS (California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science) program show their parents and faculty mentors what they've achieved before this year's program ends with a closing ceremony and prize giving. Demonstrations and displays of student projects, in areas such as robotics, biology, materials science and physics, will be on display from 9:30 a.m. The closing ceremony will begin at 11:15 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held in Freeborn Hall on the UC Davis campus. Certificates will be awarded by Peter Rock, dean of mathematical and physical sciences at UC Davis. The aim of COSMOS is to motivate the most creative minds of the new generation of prospective scientists, engineers and mathematicians who will become leaders for California, the nation and the world.
