Symposium to Address Cat Health Problems

A host of medical problems common to cats will be discussed during the 17th annual Feline Medicine Symposium to be presented Sunday, Feb. 21, at UC Davis. The symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Freeborn Hall and is open to veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary students. The general public is welcome, although topics will be geared toward veterinary professionals. Faculty members from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine as well as private veterinary practitioners will speak on a variety of topics including diabetes mellitus, emergency toxicology, cardiology, intestinal problems and reproduction. "The Feline Medicine Club always has worked to promote the health and welfare of cats to both the veterinary field and the general public," said Amy Anderson, President of the Feline Medicine Club, which is sponsoring the symposium. "We hope that the symposium will provide individuals in veterinary medicine with an update on the latest research information and clinical treatments for some serious health problems that affect cats." Anyone planning to attend the symposium should preregister by contacting Anderson between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at (530) 756-1601 Support for the symposiums is provided by the Iams pet food company.
