How people find health through interactions with plants is the focus of the upcoming symposium "The Healing Dimensions of People-Plant Relations," to be held March 24-27 at UC Davis. Participants will explore topics such as community gardens, healing and convalescence, prison gardens, medicinal plants, horticultural therapy, urban forestry and indoor and outdoor environments. Other research topics on the program include the role of plants in ritual, arts, and human cultural heritage. Sam Bass Warner Jr., of Brandeis University, will deliver the keynote address, "The Periodic Rediscoveries of Restorative Gardens: 1100 to the Present." Sponsors of the symposium include UC Davis and the American Society of Landscape Architects, Central Valley Chapter.
