"Social Responsibility Beyond the Degree -- a Lifetime Commitment" will be discussed by an alumni panel during UC Davis' annual La Raza Cultural Days. From 4 to 6 p.m., on Thursday, May 9, in MU II of the Memorial Union, Chicano and Latino alumni leaders will talk to current undergraduates about how to prepare for the challenges that await them once they graduate from the university. All on the panel were first-generation college students. Among those alums who will attend the Chicano/a studies program's event are Deborah Ortiz, Sacramento City Council member; Evelia Genera, principal of Freeman Elementary School in Woodland; Dr. Frank Mesa, an East Los Angeles physician; Dr Faustina Nevarez, director for Los Angeles Kaiser Hospitals; and Lorena Torres, a doctoral student at UC Santa Barbara.
