Taxpayers Get Aid From Volunteer Students

Students at UC Davis hope to make life a little less taxing for low-income taxpayers in Yolo County this year -- the students will offer free tax help on federal and state income tax forms. The students are participating in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which the UC Davis law school helps sponsor. Program volunteers are all UC Davis law students or undergraduates who have completed a rigorous Internal Revenue Service and Franchise Tax Board training course. The volunteers will help complete forms 1040EZ, 1040A and some 1040s at various post office and UC Davis campus sites. The program emphasizes help to those with incomes below $25,000.
