Three scientists from the University of California, Davis, have been elected as fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
The elected fellows are Joel E. Keizer, director of the Institute of Theoretical Dynamics; Richard L. Nuccitelli, professor of molecular and cellular biology; and Donald R. Strong, a professor at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory.
Members of AAAS are selected in recognition of their "efforts toward advancing science or fostering applications that are deemed scientifically or socially distinguished." This distinction was awarded to 273 members this year.
AAAS, founded in 1848, is the world's largest federation of scientists, with more than 140,000 members. The association publishes the weekly journal Science.
