Two artists who challenge and reinterpret traditions of pattern, textile, substance and surface will exhibit their work at the Richard L. Nelson Gallery at UC Davis.
On view in the main gallery will be Elana Herzog's elaborate compositions constructed of shredded chenille bedspreads and staples. Herzog has also created a site-specific piece from fabric and staples specifically for the main room of the gallery.
The adjacent gallery will feature Jess von der Ahe's abstract pattern paintings composed of gold and blood. These works address issues of the body and reinvent the relationship between abstraction and personal narrative.
