Two University of California, Davis, faculty members are among 237 newly elected fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Those selected to be fellows are honored because their efforts to advance science or its applications are "scientifically or socially distinguished."
William Jeffery, a professor at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory, was recognized for his studies on the control of developmental processes in the early stages of life and their evolution; Eldridge Moores, a professor of geology, for significant contributions to global tectonics, the geology of rock materials called ophiolites, and the dissemination of high-quality science as a science editor.
