Two Recognized as Leaders in Cattle Industry

UC Davis' Ben Norman and Jim Oltjen have been recognized as leaders of California's Cattle Feeder Quality Certification Program and Cow Calf Quality Assurance Program. Oltjen is an associate management systems specialist in the animal science department. Norman is a veterinarian with the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Extension Center. Their contributions include research, creation of a records database, and teaching techniques to both English- and Spanish-speaking beef industry personnel. In addition, Norman has been selected as a recipient of the California Beef Council's 1994 George Strathearn Memorial Research Award for research that has made a significant contribution to the future of the beef industry.
