What: Future directions to be taken by the nation's agricultural colleges will be discussed by ag deans from the University of California, Davis, and Cornell University during a public forum and dinner.
Deans Barbara Schneeman of UC Davis' College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Daryl Lund of Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will discuss how agricultural colleges will evolve to meet the needs of their students and society.
The forum will be moderated by James Meyer, chancellor emeritus of UC Davis, who in recent years has studied extensively the future of agricultural colleges.
When: Friday, Sept. 12, beginning with a 5:30 p.m. reception, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. dinner and the forum at 7:45 p.m.

Cost: $30 for dinner
Background: Nationwide, colleges that were originally funded in the 1800s for agricultural research, teaching and public service, are finding that they are at a crossroads in how to meet the needs of a society that now has less of an agrarian orientation. The dinner forum is sponsored by the alumni association of Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and by the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Parking From Highway 80, take the UC Davis exit and go north on Old
and directions: Davis Road. Pass the information kiosk. At the stop sign turn right, remaining on Old Davis Road. Go through the stoplight and at the next stop sign turn right into Parking Lot 5. The University Club is at the southwest corner of the parking lot. There is no parking fee on weekends.
