The University of California, Davis, will host its first job fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at Recreation Hall on the Davis campus.
The event, co-sponsored by the UC Davis Health System, will offer career-related workshops and information about employment opportunities on campus and at health system facilities. And for select openings advertised as "open until filled," fair-goers may be interviewed and even receive a tentative job offer.
UC Davis is holding the job fair to increase awareness of the wide variety of employment opportunities available and to make the application process more accessible, says Eleanor Sandoval, employment outreach manager at UC Davis.
"The university is one of the region's largest and most attractive employers," she adds. "We offer many long-term employment opportunities and a strong benefits package."
Fair-goers will be able to talk to representatives of campus and health system departments with vacancies in clerical, health/medical, scientific, technical and management positions.
And because attendees will be able to apply for jobs, Sandoval encourages them to bring multiple copies of their resume and other application materials.
Workshops on interview techniques and resume writing will be offered at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.; workshops on the UC Davis application process will be held at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Also on hand will be representatives of businesses and agencies from the city of Davis and Yolo, Solano and Sacramento counties to provide information on the region's other economic and community resources.
"The fair will demonstrate that the university and the area have a lot to offer," Sandoval said.
Admission and parking are free. Additional information about the job fair, including directions to Recreation Hall, is available on the Web at http://hr.ucdavis.edu/emp/eoblist.htm. Or call Sandoval at (530) 752-1364.
UC Davis and the health system have about 26,000 staff, faculty and student employees, and 600 faculty and 1,400 staff members are expected to arrive on campus over the next 15 years.
