California community college district chancellors, presidents and faculty members will meet at UC Davis on Friday, March 4, to discuss cooperative efforts between community colleges and the University of California. "Partners in Higher Education," the eighth annual UC Davis/Community College Symposium, will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Walter A. Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. The primary focus of this year's meeting will be on renewal and change in higher education in an era of limited resources, according to Daniel Roy, director of student special services at UC Davis and symposium chair. Among the speakers will be Bill Whiteneck, chief consultant for the education committee of the California State Senate, and Walter Massey, UC provost and senior vice president. The program will include a discussion with students who have transferred to UC Davis from community colleges. "This annual program continues to strengthen our partnership with community colleges, in an effort to develop innovative programs for prospective and enrolled transfer students," says Roy.
